“I love sharing my artistry because I would love to be able to inspire other people to do what they love to express their inner beauty and to improve, to try something new and maybe discover themselves a little more”
Creatives are the future! I’ve always been inspired by artists that are self-taught & strive to teach others. It’s a beautiful act of love passed on by hard work & perseverance. Meet Italian Youtuber and Make-up Artist, Roberta Tagliafierro –
“I think that the best way to describe what I do is just makeup practice and emotions. I try something new in every look I create and that helps me improve my skills. I just let my creativity and imagination go and my hands do the rest drawing lines and blending colours. I like thinking that my makeup work speak for themselves and everyone can see in them the meaning or the emotion they want to see. If I should describe myself in one world it would be nocturnal. I love the night because it’s such a special and magic part of the day; the peace and relax it brings to me are just perfect to create and express myself. I’m able to come up with ideas and I feel so much more inspired. All this helps me to concentrate on what I really want to do and to reach and accomplish that. Moreover I love vampires and staying up all night just makes me feel like one them lol.
I love sharing my artistry because I would love to be able to inspire other people to do what they love to express their inner beauty and to improve, to try something new and maybe discover themselves a little more. I grew a lot since I started doing makeup at an artistic level and I feel confident about myself because I’m finally starting to know better what I like and what I am. I’m finally able to see the beauty in others and in what surrounds me, and that’s the most precious thing this works taught me. I think that the best traits of my personality that helped me are being passionate, precise and self-control, even though the last one refers more to the real working aspect of my life. But also a ton of bad traits helped me get were I am: stubbornness and perfectionism are just two of them.
My journey began right after high school. I started doing YouTube videos and Instagram makeup posts. After a month I was studying in MUD academy in Milan to get my certificate as makeup artist. In a certain way I wanted to grow in every direction, both professionally and on social media, because this last one has come to be one of the best way to advertise your own self. Of course I started doing makeup way before, but I discovered that it was what really made me happy at 14/15 years. From that age I wore makeup every single day to school and I experimented and learned a lot, getting better and better in precise lines. My favourite part was doing my eyeliner and brows, and it’s still the same today. Now I work as a freelance in Milan and I keep studying makeup on my own, taking inspiration from wonderful artists I continuously find on Instagram.
I totally think that my makeup style is a reflection of my personality. I’m always changing mood and colours express that. However there will always be that precise liner or super defined brow that marks my works. I think my lifestyle is all about good vibes and taking things easy. I try to focus on what I love and on doing it in the best way I can. In the meanwhile I also try to keep up with everything surrounding me, such as university (I study Math but I find it to be way difficult than what I expected, since what I hated about that subject in high school is the base of every single course I have), collaborations and work. But as I said, I take things easy and try not to stress out. In the end I think that only what makes you happy and fulfilled really matters.” – Roberta Tagliafierro.
