The brand, Natasha V Label, showcases collections that implement luxe fabrics and authentic designs while making it accessible to the woman of today.
We delve deeper with Natasha Variava, the designer behind the brand Natasha V Label who is redesigning luxury, on the inspiration for her designs, the extensive international experience, & the future of the brand in this exclusive interview with The 7th Magazine’s Blog, Luxury Chapters –
Your bio states: “the source of inspiration for the label’s designs stems from her many travels around the world.” Which country has influenced you the most and how has that transmitted into your work?
I will never tire saying this, Paris for sure. It’s no secret that I love Paris. As a young girl Paris was always the city that fascinated me most and now, having visited it more times than I can count on my hands, Paris is always a good idea! A walk about Paris, provides so much to learn; be it in history, fashion, food, beauty and life. The enthusiastic locals, charming cuisine and the beautiful architecture can inspire me every time.
The Natasha V Label stresses the desire to make glamour accessible, why is it important to demand both authenticity and affordability of luxe pieces? It is a feasible demand?
I think everyone today is looking for something tasteful, modern, wearable and affordable. Seeing value and quality are the two most prime things a woman is out there to look for. As for the feasibility, I would think it’s very high up in the charts of demand. Only because every label and brand is turning conscious to this need.
You have worked in various fashion destinations: Italy, Istanbul, Florence, Rome and Paris. What influenced you into deciding to establish your brand in Dubai?
Dubai is Home. It’s my pride and joy to have been born and brought up here. There was no place besides home that I would have thought of starting up a venture in. Whilst I still feel Dubai has so much more to conquer in terms of fashion, the women of this country along with the expatriates are simply keen to dress up. I love this spirit of theirs.
Stella McCartney and Versace India are some of the global internships you worked with, what were you able to gain from the experience?
The Roles, had me learn the multiple facets of the luxury world. From quality controlling little details on the garments, to being extremely hands-on the buying process. While everyday promised on being hectic, the absolute pleasure of working and being surrounded with the impeccable craftsmanship fuelled me well enough to be more than content.
As designer you have styled a number of A-list celebrities in Bollywood films, who would you like to work with?
I’d love to style Sonam Kapoor. Although I have personally had the opportunity to style her for a brief fashion week, I would love to style her for a movie promotion or an advert. I find her style very chic and updated. I love anyone willing to experiment with silhouettes, and she aces it quite well.
What fashion piece best represents the Natasha V woman? Why?
I would say our Minoh, (off green) dress. Every piece is extremely close to me and they are all very versatile. However with Minoh being our current favorite, the dress is constructed to feel very feminine and sensual. And to say, the NatashaV woman is very self-assured, discerning and gorgeous. Clothing is meant to be powerful and expressive and celebrating our personal body shapes is what the label stands for.
Where do you envision the Natasha V Label 10 years from now?
A flagship store in Dubai and a few others globally, hopefully. We have gotten a very humbling response from the fraternity in Dubai. We would only like to build on it and deliver pieces to empower women’s shapes and bodies. We are currently expanding on developing a more wider reach of visibility and going further we’d like to maintain that.
