“The idea was to spread a positive message that no matter what happens love will always be stronger than everything 🙂 Especially at a time like this… it’s much needed.”
There’s always that artist that makes you want to get up and dance, and Lea Makhoul is one of them. Growing up in a house full of music, she now shares her talented voice with the world and with her music. Her music continues to evolve and grow, and she talks to us about that in her exclusive interview with us-
Have you always been musically inclined growing up?
Yes definetly. Music has always been apart of our home since our young childhood days. The singing, the dancing & listening to different kinds of music growing up, this helped me develop a musical ear I guess.
You just released a new single called “Paradise”. What was some of the inspiration for the song? What was that process from beginning to end?
The single I released just before Paradise was a piano ballad type song ‘’ All I know’’. So for the summertime, I wanted to create a positive summer-ish song instead of a slow one. Paradise was composed by Rami Eid; a talented and young lebanese composer. I co worked with songwriter (Amine Najjar) on developing the idea/lyrics & melody. The inspiration came from us being at a very happy place emotionally at the time we wrote the song. Inspired by life itself ; the song came to life pretty quickly & naturally. The idea was to spread a positive message that no matter what happens love will always be stronger than everything 🙂 Especially at a time like this… it’s much needed.
What was the experience like being on the reality show ‘Star Academy’?
It was one of the best experiences of my life. I left with a whole new mentality. It helped me grow. I learnt a lot about me -personally and profesionally. What I loved the most was the fact that people could see who I really am because we were filmed 24/24h. So they were discovering you as a person, not only an artist.
And of course, I was addicted to the each prime: stage, performance, dance, costume …
It was a huge competition and I reached 2nd place. I didnt win Star Academy but what I did win is the experience & most importantly the loyal fans I have today. 🙂
You are able to sing in several languages! That’s very impressive. Seems like a complicated talent, how did you adapt this style?
Thank you! I sing in French; english, a bit of spanish and greek. And soon in arabic (lol). Since I was young I’d hear and support different kinds of music, and in different languages. Because music is Universal. Its beautiful in all languages. And that’s why when I really love a song, whatever the language is, I can learn it very quick. It’s all about feelings and love for music 🙂
Are there any artists who inspire your music?
Beyonce. Also lately been a huge fan of Anne Marie, Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez, and Justin Bieber’s work. Very inspirational.
How have your fans helped you out on your musical journey?
They have been by my side since 3 years now and I’m thankful for that. Their love & support gives me the energy to do more and more. I take my time to reply to them because I simply love them and do my best to remind them everyday. #Makhoulian
What direction do you see your music going in the future?
With Universal Music; I believe were heading in the right direction. We’ve been making moves. Lots of new music coming your way!
