Le Frenchy, the new 21st-century “Verveine” by Guerlain, echoes those that punctuated the Perfumer’s history. First, the 19th-century creation by Aimé Guerlain circa 1872, followed by the 20th-century Eau de Verveine by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1983. And now Le Frenchy, dreamed up by Thierry Wasser, Guerlain’s master perfumer. It reveals a woody, aromatic and citrusy essence that reflects the dynamic, spirited and elegant personality of this dear Frenchy. Thierry Wasser danced around bergamot, observed and even teased it a little. Refreshed with a lively and piquant flight of lemon, verbena and petit grain, recalling the casual yet chic allure of the Frenchy, it then swells into an aromatic heart constructed around sage, precious neroli and fragrant lavender, evoking the controlled virility of this 2.0 hero. Slowly, the composition’s base sparks into a flame with the subtle blend of vetiver, tonka bean and ambergris, like a nod to the seduction of these new urbanites.
