“Coming from a communist regime, I didn’t have the chances that young people have today, but this defined me and made me the person I am today.”
From the deepest sound caves, Andre Rizo creates hypnotic beats and incredible sound. Building himself up, he has made himself into an amazing DJ, DJ-ing with many other artist as well and creating his own radio show. Andre steps it up as an artist and brings cool and creative music to people everywhere. This is what he had to say about his musical experience-
Growing up, did you have a favorite artist who made you love music?
I’m kinda old (kidding), but yes I grew up with artists like Cappella, Snap!, KLF, 2Unlimited and many others.
What was it like growing up in Bucharest? Is it different from any other country you have visited?
It was very different. Coming from a communist regime I didn’t have the chances that young people have today, but this defined me and made me the person I am today. So yes, it was very different from any other cities I’ve visited.
What gave you the push to first start DJing?
A track: UNKLE – In a State.
You’ve DJed with many other artists! How was it working with them? Did they have a different style than you?
I’ve had the chance to play alongside with a lot of famous DJ’s, different in style, like John Creamer, DJ Sneak, Cabanne, Sonique, Cristian Varela, Technasia and many more and I believe that they all have their own particularities and techniques. I’ve learned from all of them and that helped me develop as an artist.
What gave you the push to own your own production studio? What is that like?
I’ve built my own studio because I don’t like to depend on other people. Inspiration comes suddenly and when you least expect and at that special moment I want to have a studio where I can develop those ideas.
Why did you decide to change your sound?
I do not believe that I’ve changed my style. I think it is evolution and much more experience.
You host a weekly radio show. Do you feel like that has helped you expand your music?
Yes, I host a weekly radio show and I believe that it helped me a lot, because I can easily pomote my music and beeing sure that my creations get to be heared by people. Much more than that, every day you get to be in contact with artists and people from the industry, people that can provide a real feedback about my work and that helped me to grow!
