3D printing is something that is taking the world by storm. Hospitals, as well as artists, are using it to their advantage. The Internet of Fashion are one of those people. When was The Internet Of Fashion first created?
The Internet of fashion was created in February of 2015. It was created to present a platform that would showcase designers who created fashion apparel, accessories and footwear with a form of technology. The very first event was a four-hour runway show that featured fashion tech designs.
Did you have any interest in fashion growing up?
Yes always had an interest in fashion. I began my career in the Fashion Industry working as a dress Buyer for Van Buren Neiman one of New York’s leading resident buying offices. Although I loved my position, greater opportunity came along. The President of a 52 Store Specialty Chain wanted my services for his organization. I moved into a more exciting area of the Retail Industry where I learned much more about the business of Fashion. Eventually, I became a Fashion Editor. As a contributing Fashion Editor forWomen World Magazine I enjoyed working with top Fashion houses, Photographers and Models producing trend setting Fashion News layouts a position that required extensive world travel. After many wonderful experiences working in fashion I discovered a love for technology. I hold a Bachelor of business administration and a MBA degree in Information system management and E-commerce.
What made you decide to mesh the two together?
I decided to integrate fashion and technology when I learned a friend had developed Alzheimer’s.That discovery prompted me to want to create wearables that would incorporate location devices. I had a deeper passion for technology more specifically a concept in fashion tech that would save lives. During my research process I visualized integrating fashion with gps technology. The wearer of this type of fashion/tech apparel would help the caregiver locate the person immediately if they wandered away. I immediately want to create fashion/tech for others with disabilities like dementia and autism.
3D printing is something that is very innovative, even used in modern day medicine. When did you decide to use it in regards to fashion?
3D technologies have been used by several of our featured designers. I consider it a tool in the innovative process. It has become a desired tool in prototyping and as the price of 3D printer lower I can see being used by the consumer market.
