“I find inspiration in everything around me, nature, architecture, people, music, movies, history, space, even my own shadow.”
Sergey, who goes by the alias @Milk1422 on Instagram, is a talented and unique FaceChart Artist. The work has inspired makeup artists to use these drawings as inspiration. Rochelle Kassin interviews Sergey below –
What made you become a face chart artist?
I always loved to draw portraits. I worked for a beauty company in which one of my tasks were to create facecharts,
I then realized that this is exactly what I love doing even when I’m not at work.
Other makeup artists on Instagram create the looks based on your art.
How does it feel to have been able to start a movement like that?
I am very glad that many makeup artists love what I do and want to create my sketches in real life! For me it is a great honor!
I personally don’t like to do makeup, so although my sketches turns out very good, it’s still surreal to see the sketches develop into these images by professional makeup artists.
What made you decide to use the name Milk1422 as your Instagram name?
I’ll leave it a secret =)
Where do you get inspiration for your designs?
I find inspiration in everything around me, nature, architecture, people, music, movies, history, space, even my own shadow.
You have a very unique approach, being that your art is dark but also full of brightness and color.
What inspired you to use that kind of style?
My work carries the idea reflecting my inner state… Sometimes it’s love, death, sex, balance. With sketches, I communicate with the world, and share beautiful stories.
Where did you learn to draw pictures like these? They are very different from the art you see everyday!
I was taught to draw by my mother, I really appreciate it! As well as the curriculum. But most importantly, the fact that I paint every day, honoring the skills.
Where do you see yourself taking your art in the future?
I love what I’m doing now, I see myself in the future painting images into existence for a fabulous world!
