“I loved to play with collage since I was a child. The natural layers in the real world, change them, make new landscapes with new elements…”
Rafa F. is an amazing artist with a new and interesting spin on art. The new technique Rafa uses is amazing and abstract, something you don’t see everyday. Here is what Rafa, or Rafafans according to Instagram, had to say when we sat down for an interview –
I guess it’s not a decision, it’s more like a feeling you have along the time. At first, I start playing with graphic design mixing with collage…it’s a process, a creative process that never ends.
Is there anyone in your life or in the artistry world who inspires you?
A lot of artists, curators… I love to learn with the classics, Modigliani or Ritchter for example. But this question changes or expands everyday!
Did you go to school to learn art or did you learn on your own?
I feel I’m autodidact. Obviously, I learnt some art at school, it were my favorite lessons, and also I attended several courses to learn techniques and softwares. You learn everyday, that’s important, never forget!
Where did you get the idea for some of your work?
Collage is my language, it’s the more natural way to express myself.
How did you learn this kind of art? It’s so creative!
Thanks! As I told you before, I feel autodidact. I loved to play with collage since I was a child. The natural layers in the real world, change them, make new landscapes with new elements…
Explain us your process in creating art from start to finish?
I usually make researches everywhere, internet, magazines, books…. selecting all the images I like for some reason, colors, textures, faces, postures. I love to collet them by colors or some reason I feel they are similar. Then I see the most interesting parts and start to work with them.
Where do you see your art expanding in the future?
I wish to keep working in the things I like, and learn the most I can!
