Stephanie Walberer of Mrs. COLORBERRY is from Munich who lives for art, design, & lifestyle. Since 2014, she has been an artist & her soul has completely surrendered to the medium of Resin. Resin, like herself, has its own head and clear ideas. Read the exclusive interview below on The 7th Magazine’s Blog –
What inspired the name Mrs. Colorberry?
My original name is Stephanie Walberer & I am from Germany. Even for the
German people it is hard to my name correctly. So I just had to find
another, much easier name for me & my art. A name, which most
globally may pronounce.
Color – because all my artwork are colorful. I don`t like to pour only
black + white – I have to use COLORS! And if you look at a colorful painting, u get
happy, right? I am happy with the things I am able to do.
Berry – I love eating berries – all types … if there is a strawberry cake in the
kitchen and you leave me alone with it, there will be only the pastry left with the
berries on top. BERRY is also a very feminine word, a word you combine with
summer, a word u combine with the nature & the love of mother nature.
Additionally, my favorite colors are all the colors of a berry.
So, I am MRS.COLORBERRY.
You are best known your magical geode resin artworks and the unique geode side tables (design
patented), what made you dabble into the world of luxury furniture & housewares?
My mother is an interior designer for curtains and has her business running since I
was a child. So I grew up with a feeling for colors, designs and interior. I studied
textile management and traveled around the world to learn ( NewYork, NewDelhi, etc.).
So I met different people in different countries and all of them have one in
common: they love their homes, so there was one day I was taking some
measurements for curtains and the customer was so sad that he haven`t found
the perfect artwork for his wall – so I just bought a canvas and started painting
with acrylics. And after some time resin crossed my art journey
& changed my whole live as an artist.
Resin – this is the medium I am working with and it is
not as easy as it looks like. Resin is a very unique, sticky and tricky medium
which has it`s one head – like me. It needs a lot of experience to control it. So
this is actually the challenge: when two bullheads meet each other
Your work is inspired by mother nature`s fascinating world of healing stones like geodes, agates,
malachites & others – What is the process for naming your artworks?
That is a great question. Sometimes you know the name already while u are
pouring, because you feel it… but there are also artworks, which I named after the
healing stones which colors of them inspired me. The names are very similar to
the stones, like amethysts, malachites, etc.
What was your first artwork with Resin?
My first artwork with resin was a total disaster, so it was an experience on a
small canvas. I still have this piece as a reminder, that pouring with resin is
a process of learning. And I am still learning!
What is your creative process from beginning to end when creating these unique luxury pieces?
There is no general time for one piece… some pieces are poured very quickly in
2-3 hours and then they are done. But if u want to add layers, effects, stones,
glitters, highlights, i takes me sometimes up to 4 weeks… but painting / pouring
is a process. It`s starts with an imagination u have, the choose of the perfect
surfaces, preparing the surface, cutting the edges (sometimes), drawing the
lines, think about a good color combination, preparing your art room etc. so. The
most fun part is hanging them up, because then they are officially done.
Your choice of colors are also very unique, & definitely have an impact on the final product, what
drives you to using such vibrant reflections?
The biggest inspiration for me is mother nature. She is the goddess of shapes,
structures & awesome color combinations. Just have a look at some of mother
nature`s healing stones or just even the nature. There is so much detail love in
each piece. I started recently to collect healing stones for myself and if i need
some inspiration, I just sit in front of them and watch them.
What are your dreams for the future of Mrs. Colorberry?
My dreams? Oh well…. I am a person who lives in the NOW! I want to inspired people NOW. I
want to create my artwork in the NOW. You only live once and you never know what`s coming tomorrow.
But, yes, I have a vision – just called it vision – I would love to have my own resin brand with
different colors to offer. Well, the resin color collections are already planned and coming soon.
But in generall I want to make people happy with the COLORBERRY WAY…. If they are
creative they can get inspired by me. If they wanna have a highlight in their homes, they can buy
my art….and being a role model for all artists that they should
NEVER GIVE UP & just keep on doing !!!
