“The variety of other desserts that you can actually create yourself and make them a healthier version of the original is huge and it is exciting to try to veganise your favorite childhood desserts.”
Eating healthy is something so hard to do, especially if you have a sweet tooth like the rest of the world. @Maryles_Plantry made it easy to find amazing vegan recipes for desserts that are to die for. Maria has an amazing talent for dessert and creating her own raw creations. Here is what Maria told us when we sat down for an interview-
When did you decide you wanted to become a baker?
Weeell, I wouldn’t really call myself a baker as most of my desserts are raw, I am more like a raw cake maker J. See baking involves knowing what you are doing with regards to temperature and the amount of raising agents the amount of time to bake and so on. I am not good at that so I make raw cakes, they are so much easier.
Anyway but when I decided to become a dessert maker was that when I couldn’t find lovely vegan desserts. There was so little choice for desserts that I could eat, and having been previously a lover of cheesecake (before going vegan), raw cheesecakes made from cashews are just the best and closest to the real thing.
The variety of other desserts that you can actually create yourself and make them a healthier version of the original is huge and it is exciting to try to veganise your favorite childhood desserts. So I guess thats when I decided.
What inspired you to create only vegan desserts? Are you vegan yourself?
Yes I have been vegan for nearly two years now and having a huge sweet tooth I just couldn’t miss out on my desserts.
Why did you create “The Vegan Twins Plantry”? What does the name mean to you?
“The Vegan Twins Plantry” was a project I started with my vegan twin sister Daria. We really wanted to create a blog that sourced and reviewed vegan and cruelty free products because that’s what I struggled with when I went vegan. I also wanted to share all my recipes. Instagram is really the only social media I use and I wanted to create something outside of that when I can share more than just food. BUT at the moment it IS only food HAHA. I guess I have to put more work into it. So yes the name comes from myself and my sis being twins and plantry obviously refers to my vegan pantry.
Your recipes look delicious! As a vegan lover myself, I know how hard it is to create vegan recipes that taste just as good as the real thing. Do you create all of them yourself?
I did create all the recipes myself and I know what you mean by saying it is hard to veganise recipes. But I also love experimenting with different food and ingredients, So unfortunately I waste some too, when it doesn’t go to plan. But I also think its very exciting finding new flavors and maybe even improving the original recipes.
Where do you see your blog and your recipes headed in the future?
I really wish I could create more savory recipes or even get a bit mre away from my mostly cheesecake recipes and create other vegan desserts. I did make several different chocolate bars and puddings but I really want to make more of them, I think I am a bit stuck in my routine of making cakes.
I would also love to review vegan beauty and other products.
