“In terms of personal traits that have helped me professionally, empathy and conscientiousness would be top of the list”
Often, I tend to stay away from controversial topics such as politics. However, since I do post many plant-based & vegan features on Luxury Chapters, I wanted to introduce a bit of artful controversy. Meet Kate Ulloa-James –
“I am a vegan artist and by nature, my work incorporates my passions for animal rights. I use a mixture of hand-drawn media and digital painting for my work. My one word would be ‘Change’ – I want to be part of the change that is happening in the world, as society becomes aware of an alternative, cruelty-free way of life for all living creatures – veganism. I am always the first to evaluate myself and change through self-improvement and empathy.
My personality is sometimes subtle, sometimes controversial; I am communicating a message of respect for all animals, the main focus in my work being creatures that are farmed for the consumption of their meat and other products.
I want to make my viewers question why we farm animals and spark the connection that each animal is a precious, sacred life, not a product to be consumed. All lives matter and the only life that belongs to me is my own.
In terms of personal traits that have helped me professionally, empathy and conscientiousness would be top of the list. If I had not been eager to improve myself and develop a better understanding of my morals from the perspective of the beings around me, I would not be creating the artwork I am making now.
