Chef Brett Wright has been a chef for 17 years & adds to his contribution in life by transforming the way people view vegan cuisine in Tampa, FL. where Green House Modern Vegan Kitchen will open its doors this August of 2018. He’s quotes as stating: “The way I eat and the need for more vegan restaurant inspired me to open the restaurant.” Below is more on Chef Brett Wright’s exclusive interview conducted by Alain Gaillard –
What inspired you to become a vegan chef?
My dad inspired me to become a chef. The way I eat and the need for more vegan restaurant inspire me to open my restaurant.
What is your favorite cuisine cook? Why?
I don’t have a favorite food; cooking is my passion. Every country and state has its own culture; and learning new recipe is the most intriguing part for me.
What makes your cooking different from other vegan chefs?
I think style and having a wheelhouse makes you different because ingredients are universal, and can be used in so many different ways.
Tell me about an accomplishment that you are most proud of in your career?
Opening up Green House since it has been five years in the making concept.
You have been a chef for over 25 years, why did you wait so long to open your own venue?
I’ve been cooking for 25 years and been a chef for 17 years. To me, it’s about learning, experience and invent. As a black chef with no sponsors, you have to kick down doors sometimes to be seen or heard!
What do you cook at home that you never cook at the restaurant?
My family doesn’t have my diet. They eat vegan food. They don’t eat red meat or pork, so I have to say seafood and poultry.
